Civil Aviation

Photographs by Robin D W Norton unless stated otherwise

Although there were just a few hundred aircraft in Rhodesia during the 1960s-1980s, many were interesting types. This selection of photographs is hopefully of interest, I have tried to show the backgrounds which in many cases are interesting and to give an indication of the airport layout, Salisbury Airport being shared by the Civil side and the Rhodesian Air Force base of New Sarum, the earth banks that were built up in the middle to late 1970s hid much of what was going on, fortunately, my photographs are from before this happened and it was normal to see several Rhodesian Air Force and the odd South African Air Force aircraft parked up on the New Sarum apron.
